ASSOCIATION for the
NEW ORGAN OF ST-VINCENT

The church of St-Vincent is the historical cradle of what has since become the agglomeration of Montreux. St-Vincent holds an unquestionable historical and architectural place in the configuration of the lives of the region.

It is no exaggeration to say that the organ of St-Vincent is used daily. In addition to the regular protestant church services (approximately 65 per year), the funerals and numerous marriages which are performed at the site, there are concerts all year around, notably the Florilège vocal and the "L'été, c'est l'orgue" festivals.

The organist, a professionally accomplished musician, teaches organ at St-Vincent as an instructor of the Riviera Conservatory of Music.

It is essential that an instrument of quality reflective of the church’s heritage and site be in place.

The current organ, built by re-using some parts of the precursor dating back to 1953, was inaugurated in 1975 and is now suffering from a variety of shortcomings. Poor electrical connections, defective and worn out pipes have made some parts totally unusable. The condition of the organ is deplorable. It has become necessary to re-locate the organ classes to another facility. It is the opinion of numerous experts consulted that the current organ cannot be saved.

Studies of the optimal design and placement have been undertaken by a special association for the new organ. An in-depth analysis of the rationale for the change and the selection of the new organ, as well as the activities of the committee, are provided in French at the following pages :
